Graduation! and the Unknown

This week I finished the last of my exams, presentations, and portfolios. Last week I hung what I hope is not even close to my last gallery, and finally what seems to be millions of years of school (seventeen exactly) is coming to an end. Next Friday I graduate Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors of Science in Photography and a minor in Electronic Media and Film.

Now that graduation is upon, I am now asked the most dreaded question of most graduates, "what's next?" While some people have it figured out, most do not. I have sort of dreaded this question since I entered my Senior year, but as I have talked to more about more people about it, we're all in the same boat. "The Unknown." As graduates, we often feel the pressure of figuring our lives out right away. We are figuring it out. A little at a time. Whether we start our career directly out of college or take some time to figure out what we want... even taking a break is an option, but none of them should be looked down upon. How many people really had their entire lives figured out in their early twenties? Some, but not all.

As of right now, I am going to see where life takes me. I am going to apply for both dream jobs and ones that my degree doesn't even touch on. I am not going to let my degree define me, but rather have it accentuate who I am and my dream. With my degree, I have the tools and skills to do whatever I choose to in my life. I will strive to accomplish it my dreams on my own terms and time.

Once I get my feet on the ground, I would like to dig my heels into making my business a full-time thing, but as for right now that is only a dream, and that is okay.

I can't wait to see what the future holds for both my photography and me.
